I’m in New York City for the annual dinner and events for the Baker Street Irregulars (BSI) — the literary society dedicated to Sherlock Holmes.
It’s a comforting weekend, filled with familiar faces, long-remembered places, and an appreciation for food, drink, and books.
Most of the events happen at the Yale Club, where we also have guest rooms for overnight accommodations. And club life is lovely — from reading a paper in the large public lounge, to taking advantage of the library, to meeting guests and friends in the lobby and making an exciting departure into Midtown Manhattan.

:This year’s BSI Weekend included a lecture on the unsanitary practice of medicine in Victorian England by bestselling author Tess Gerritson. And receptions for awards and accolades given to those in the society who stood out with their achievements throughout the year.
However, words can’t properly convey the experience of the BSI Weekend.
Sometimes, classy can described best by using imagery.
